Today I walked out of the subway at Union Square to hear a voice reading off a list of names. As I passed the police barrier and turned to my left I spotted a few boots, then some more and then even more. I had unintentionally walked into the traveling exhibition known as Eyes Wide Open. I had heard about it and wanted to see and I'm glad I stumbled into it. The sight of all the boots, hearing the names of the dead read aloud, was a powerful reminder of the costs of this war in Iraq. See it if you get the chance.
